BAKE-UP

Boost-Up the Nutrition of Your Favorite Homemade Treats

add a little bit of big nutrition

All kids – little ones and adult ones – love to make and eat treats.  What could be more comforting than some milk and cookies, a warm muffin in the morning, a cake to celebrate something joyful?  Now you can add a little bit of big nutrition into everything you bake.

Bake-Up is rich in all essential amino acids, the building blocks for our cells, B-vitamins and omega-3s to fuel your brain, minerals and antioxidants to fire up your immune system and dietary fiber for a healthy gut. You can feel good about serving something homemade, even if it is a little indulgent.  Best of all, they’ll never know you powered up their treats with nutrient dense superfoods, because it’s practically flavorless.  It’s our little secret. Promise not to tell.

Guy Fieri and Jamie Oliver both just might say, “This is money.”

Curious about the number 19 on the package? That’s the %RDA of folate in a cup of cooked quinoa. Folate is one of the B-vitamins and is needed to make red and white blood cells in the bone marrow, convert carbohydrates into energy, and produce DNA and RNA.

white chia seeds

“Chia” is the Mayan word for “strength.” Chia is, calorie for calorie, one of the world's best sources of several important nutrients - calcium, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, zinc, B-vitamins. It has substantial dietary fiber for your gut as well as more than half of the fat coming from omega-3’s.

toasted quinoa

Quinoa contains all 9 essential amino acids. Protein is made up of amino acids and most plants are deficient in one or more of the essential aminos (called essential, as your body cannot produce them and needs to obtain them through your diet). Quinoa is also a low glycemic index food. Quinoa is very high in some important minerals - manganese, iron, zinc and magnesium.

flax seed meal

Flax seed has a good source of dietary fiber, “good fat” and lignans. One randomized, placebo controlled study disguised flax seed in baked muffins and got an extraordinary improvement in high blood pressure. High blood pressure is the single largest factor for death on the planet earth. In the flax seed study, the drop in BP was greater than most pharmaceuticals. Another benefit of flax seed is its ability to regulate plasma oxylipids - a group of fatty acid metabolites involved in inflammation. Older people have more pro inflammatory oxyliids, but when you give older people flax seed muffins for 4 weeks, their levels drop to 20 year olds.
